founder of sphinx jewelry shop
Welcome to my jewelry shop!
Hello, I'm Sara Khan and I'm a seventeen year old small business owner based out of Chicago, Illinois. I'm an avid jewelry artist, constantly experimenting with a variety metals, wires, beads, tools, stones, pearls, and more. I hand craft each piece of jewelry shipped out to the world by myself and package each item with care.
I am also a curious reader and consumer of media. In my free time, I enjoy watching and creating films. Combining pop culture and jewelry making is my passion and I plan on pursuing it throughout my life.
I started this small business in the summer of 2020 during the thick of the first COVID-19 quarantine. I discovered that the largest humanitarian crisis in the world -- malnutrition in Yemen -- was becoming severely undercovered by the media as attention shifted to vaccine updates and new quarantine guidelines. In July, I decided to make it my mission to play a part in ending malnutrition in Yemen by selling jewelry and donating a portion of the profits to the cause.
And, sustainability is a key aspect of my small business. As a jewelry shop owner who has to make and sell quality products, making sure each item is long-lasting and created with eco-friendly material is one of my top priorities.
